Alameda is to be found North-West of Antequera. Alameda has a population of 5000 residence, one of whom many years previously received popular notoriety. Buried in the local church in Alameda is the legendary “ El Tempranillo” a 19th century bandit.
Alameda dates back to Paleolithic and Neolithic times. It was also an important Roman settlement and the site of the Roman Baths is now a National Monument.

Catholic conquistadors took the town from the Moors in 1240.

The main focus of the town today is the central Fuente de la Placeta---until fairly recently the only source of fresh water for the town.

Nearby there is the Laguna de la Ratosa where flamingos and other migrating birds may be observed. The key fiestas in Alameda are held in February, March and the August Feria. Alameda town specializes in making chairs from esparto grass.

Alameda, Costa del Sol remains the most poular of destination for holidays from the UK. The Spanish property industry in Alameda on the Costa del Sol is as vibrant as any Costa town in Spain.
