LRAU Campaign for Compensation
An Open Letter to Gordon Brown
It has been widely reported that the EU Commission will rule against the LRAU/LUV laws and recommend the changes neccessary to stop the miss-use of the laws to the detriment of property owners. Unfortunately, it also seems that it is unlikely that these changes will be back-dated or that any compensation will be offerred to those affected oner the years, many of whom have lost thousands of pounds if not everything they had saved to support them in their retirement. It also seems unlikely that the case pending before the European Court of Human Rights will have much impact as only a handful of cases seem to apply.
To attempt to highlight the need for Gordon Brown to step in and act on behalf of those who have been affected we will attempt to place an open letter on Google UK for the Search Term ' Gordon Brown'

Prime Minister Gordon Brown
10 Downing St London
16th September 2007
Dear Gordon Brown,
LRAU Victims Need Your Help
We are sure that you are aware of the recent events regarding the Spanish 'Land Grab' Law which have taken place at the European Parliament and the pending case at the European Court of Human Rights. Both events look to have positive outcomes in respect of amending laws so seriously flawed that they have caused worry stress and more importantly, severe financial loss to thousands of UK citizens.
What concerns us is that all reports suggest that none of these positive actions are likely to be retrospective, leaving those affected with no recourse to compensation for the injustice they have been subjected to.
The pages attached to this letter, (See Below), are filled with the stories of UK citizens who have had to endure financial loss at a time when most had looked forward to enjoying a peaceful retirement. We hope that you take the time to read a few of their accounts.
We implore you to intervene in this matter on their behalf at this time to help secure the compensation that they not only deserve, but that is their right.
Any rulings that would acknowledge that the laws were unjust but would allow for compensation not to be paid to those who have suffered the injustice would be as much of a travesty as the laws were themselves.
The time to act is now so that any rulings made by the European commission also include the right to compensation.
We thank you for your time and look forward to hearing news of your plans to help the UK citizens who have been so badly affected by these laws
